Problem: Fan running like mad. In top the CPU load was 80-90%. Only a few programs were opened, like Chrome, Atom and MAMP.
Solution:
- Click > sleep
- Wake the system up
- Click > restart

Mac: fan running like mad
Problem: Fan running like mad. In top the CPU load was 80-90%. Only a few programs were opened, like Chrome, Atom and MAMP.

High CPU speed reduced via BIOS

On Ubuntu the average CPU speed was around 30%, which seemed a bit over the top. After some research I found a thread, arguing that the reason might be the power management. In the BIOS I set the low power management to off.
